I am an avid user of this device and the service. It is fantastic for backpacking and other outdoor adventures. There's a lot of good info on the web that tell what this device can do and it's features. (A good breakdown here: http://goo.gl/JPVh87 ) Here are the details of what you get when you rent the unit from me: - UNLIMITED status messages. You can set up 3 pre-loaded status messages. They can be sent to groups as well as individuals. You can leverage this feature to communicate with a lot of people at no extra charge. - Custom text messages: Send and receive 160 character messages. The cost is $1.00 each but it's nice to know they are there. The cost for custom messages will be deducted from the security deposit. - Support: I can answer all your questions! - Shipping Cost: Free local pickup is available. For non-local users, shipping to anywhere in the lower 48 states usually costs $5 to $10. You pay the return shipping. - Transit Time: You do not pay a daily rental fee for outgoing shipping (ME to YOU). I will make sure to have the unit to you on or before the pickup date (most of the time I get it there a day or two early). You will be responsible for the daily fee for return shipping. Plan on 2-3 extra days after the date you return from your trip. - Security deposit will be fully refunded when unit arrives back to me with no damages. Any overage fees for messaging, extra rental days (shipping) will be deducted.
